Technical features

Server environment

  • Servers are located in the EU

  • There is no direct access to content servers from the public network, content is retrieved through a proxy tunnel using the https protocol
  • Security certificate is renewed every three months

SoC players (System-on-Chip)

iDiD can be installed on several display SoC operating systems. Depending on the device, the installation method can be either by installing a separate application from a USB stick or network, or by presenting the player software in the device's browser in kiosk mode.

Technical specifications regarding the device and performance are available separately from each device manufacturer.

Player software

  • Content presentation is based on HTML5 technologies
  • The repeater software used on external playback computers includes the Chromium browser component.
  • Basic presentation content can be presented in a browser (Chrome, Edge), all iDiD features can be utilized on external repeater computers in the iDiD player software.
  • Automatic notifications to users about the offline status of devices
  • All communication is based on the repeater software retrieving data from the iDiD server
  • The server or other external party does not contact the repeater software
  • The firewall of the operating environment must have access to the iDiD servers via the https protocol, documentation is publicly available.

Remote control,
iDiD Remotecontrol

  • Remote management function for external repeater computers
  • Only when using iDiD support
  • Uses the same https connections as the iDiD repeater software
  • Does not impose firewall requirements
  • Separate program, can be disabled at customer request.

Remote control, TeamViewer 

  • Deprecated in iDiD support
  • Remote management software used on external repeater computers
  • In use with iDiD support, rights can be shared if necessary if the customer's IT uses the same system

Data communications

  • All communication between the repeater software and the servers takes place using the https protocol (port 443), with http (80) partially available if necessary.
  • Traffic between iDiD servers takes place on a private network.

Management interface

  • Browser-based user interface

  • Login with personal system credentials or SSO login (e.g. Azure AD).

Emergency function

  • A Simple emergency mode feature can be enabled from the management interface
